Transform sentences with weak, vague, or buried verbs into punchy prose with strong, active verbs.
Weak verbs drain the life from legal writing. Strong verbs make your prose burst with energy and clarity.
Common weak verb patterns to fix:
- Nominalizations: "made a decision" → "decided" (verbs hiding as nouns)
- "To be" padding: "was of the opinion" → "believed" or "held"
- Vague verbs: "did," "got," "had," "made" — replace with specific actions
- "There is/are": "There are three factors" → "Three factors govern"
- Passive weakness: "was involved in" → what did they actually DO?
Your Task: Rewrite each sentence to unleash a stronger, more specific verb. Keep the meaning but make it punch.
